July 31 is the deadline for any ranchers, farmers and rural business owners interested in applying for USDA Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grants. The grants are to be used to purchase wind turbines or other renewable enrgy systems.

Those eligible for the program will be provided with grants that cover 25 percent of the total cost of the installation.

When combined with Federal Investment Tax Credits, REAP grants can help cover up to 50 percent of the cost.
